August 2021: My paper, co-authored with Paul Leonardi, titled “Identity-based motivations for providing the unpaid labor that makes AI technologies work” won the top student-led paper award in the Organizational Communication and Information Systems division of the Academy of Management.

June 2021: I’m done! I’ve successfully defended my dissertation, titled “The Work of Identity Construction in the Age of Intelligent Machines.” I will link when it’s published! Special thanks to my wonderful advisors, Karen Myers & Paul Leonardi, and committee members, Ron Rice and Linda Putnam.

April 2021: I’m thrilled to announce that I will be joining the Department of Communication Studies and the Organizational Science doctoral program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as an assistant professor this fall.

August 2020: I spoke about our research on remote onboarding as part of a show on interdisciplinary education at UCSB on California State University Channel Island’s radio show “On Education” on Wednesday, August 19. Listen here.

June 2020: Thanks to UCSB Graduate Division, I recently received a summer minigrant to study remote onboarding (socialization and assimilation). We want to understand what it’s like to start a new job while working remotely and what some of the best practices are for newcomers and organizations that rely on remote work arrangements, whether temporarily or permanently (since remote work arrangements are likely here to stay!).
